MovingON Workshops Launch in Madrid: Empowering Youth to Lead Change

The first local workshops of the MovingON project have officially started in Madrid, Spain, led by Fundación Diagrama Intervención Psicosocial.

As part of the project’s Work Package 3 – From Conflict to Participation – the organisation launched the training pathway “Caring for Crime and Violence Prevention in My Neighborhood”, designed to strengthen the participation, leadership, and civic engagement of justice-involved and at-risk youth.

The first workshop session brought together nine young participants involved in probation and employment support programmes in Madrid. Through dynamic group activities and participatory exercises, the young people explored the values, challenges, and needs within their communities while beginning a personal journey focused on agency, emotional awareness, and active citizenship.

Building Leadership and Civic Agency

The session focused on helping participants get to know one another and creating a safe and inclusive environment for dialogue and collaboration. One of the key objectives of the workshop was to introduce emotional self-regulation tools, supporting young people in recognising and managing emotions while strengthening communication and interpersonal skills.

Using non-formal education methodologies inspired by the MovingON participatory approach, participants were encouraged to reflect on their role within their neighbourhoods and communities, moving from passive observation to active participation.

Over the coming weeks, the group will continue developing leadership competences, civic agency, and social awareness through additional workshop activities connected to crime and violence prevention, community wellbeing, and democratic participation.

From Conflict to Participation

MovingON aims to empower justice-involved and at-risk youth across Europe by creating opportunities for them to actively contribute to society and decision-making processes that affect their lives.

The project promotes a strength-based and participatory approach, encouraging young people to share their experiences, identify community challenges, and become agents of positive change within their local contexts.

Through local workshops, international exchanges, and dialogue activities with stakeholders and policymakers, MovingON seeks to amplify youth voices and foster more inclusive, supportive, and participatory communities across Europe.

About the Project

MovingON is a European project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme under the European Youth Together initiative. The project brings together organisations from across Europe working to support justice-involved and at-risk youth through participation, empowerment, and civic engagement initiatives.
